About Chelsea
Chelsea Bloom | Psychologist
B.A. Hons (Psych); M. Psych (Organisational); M. Psych (Clinical)
Chelsea works with adults and has a particular interest in treating people experiencing eating disorders – including Binge Eating, Bulimia, Anorexia (BMI 17+) and related eating disorders (e.g. Not Otherwise Specified and Atypical Anorexia). She also works with people experiencing general distress around food, eating and body. You don’t need a formal eating disorder diagnosis to receive treatment.
Chelsea typically offers Cognitive Behaviour Therapy – Enhanced (CBT-E) for clients with eating disorders, which is a leading evidence-based treatment for Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia, Anorexia and related disorders.
However, Chelsea recognises that eating disorders usually occur in the context of other difficulties in your relationship with yourself, others or the world. These challenges may be related to trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, emotional distress, dissatisfaction, emptiness or stuckness in your life. You might not even know what is going wrong, but find yourself feeling unhappy in major areas of your life. Perhaps you find yourself feeling empty when life is on track; or repeatedly falling into the same patterns that keep you stuck; or find yourself always anxious in the context of romantic relationships.
To treat you as a whole person, Chelsea takes a strongly personalised approach to treatment and offers a variety of other evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Schema Therapy, EMDR, Emotion-Focussed Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment therapy – depending on what you need.
Chelsea has a calm and open approach, and is inspired by the resilience and potential of her clients. She can support you with change and recovery, and to build a life you value despite your challenges.
Chelsea is open to referrals for people with the following eating disorders and co-occuring challenges:
- Binge Eating Disorder
- Bulimia
- Anorexia and Atypical Anorexia (Medically stable with BMI 17+)
- Other related eating disorders and undiagnosed body image concerns and eating difficulties
- Depression and low mood
- Anxiety
- PTSD and Interpersonal trauma (e.g. difficulty family environments, assault, abuse)
- Relationships
- Adult ADHD
- Self esteem and self-development
- General feelings of stuckness, emptiness and dissatisfaction.
“The time will come when, with elation, you will greet yourself arriving at your own door, in your own mirror, and each will smile at the other’s welcome”
